★★★★1/2 “Rosenboom, Vossler, and Raymond reach the same transcendent planes together, channeling each other’s energy and generating some truly awesome sounds. This is a powerful record that goes to some emotionally deep places, simultaneously cathartic and rejuvenating.” –The Free Jazz Collective
“The mighty thunder of Trio Subliminal's second storm system bursts from the guitar of Jake Vossler, the trumpet of Dan Rosenboom and the drums of Tina Raymond. Thousands of shaven-skulled priests salaam before a dog-headed god under fiery skies. Alien messages are scrambled into pharaonic inscriptions for future decoding. Poets dream pure distillations of a time before the psychic veil. Subliminal battles rage behind twitching eyebaals. Everything is understood.” –MetalJazz.com
Dan Rosenboom - Trumpet, Nafir
Gavin Templeton - Alto Saxophone
Billy Mohler - Double Bass
Anthony Fung - Drums & Percussion
“The duo of Matt Mayhall and Dan Rosenboom is not your typical drum ‘n’ trumpet duo but perhaps there’s not much typical about such a combination, anyway. With lengthy reputations for applying virtuosity to cutting edge jazz, improvised music and rock, the two also bring a unique telepathy to a project that’s built up over the last thirteen years.”

“This bi-coastal USA ultra-progressive band is inspired by the classic chord-less quartets of modern jazz via a fast-moving program, complete with tricky, mind-bending works, odd-metered unison excursions and other revved up implementations. The musicians' assertiveness is embedded into various offshoots and stylizations such as hard-hitting bop and poignant call / response jaunts, framed on structural elements… Quoan's valiant disposition, energized performances, and ferocious improvisational acumen offers much more than your standard meat and potatoes jazz stew."
–Glenn Astarita, All About Jazz
Brian Walsh - Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contrabass Clarinet
Daniel Rosenboom - Trumpet, Piccolo Trumpet, Flugelhorn
Sam Minaie - Bass
Mark Ferber - Drums

The companion album for their January 2017 vinyl release, "Voices In The Void," DR. MiNT's "Beyond The Void" takes you, well, beyond! With expansive vision, improvisational daring, and stylish aesthetic, this music delves into the realm of the subconscious. Each song is the result of spontaneous collective inspiration. DR. MiNT's signature sound is produced through a combination of pure improvisation, and real-time notation of melodic content. With a rhythm section rooted in drum 'n' bass and heavy rock, and horn soloists pushing the edges of experimental jazz, the band creates their own universe, held together by the dark matter of intuitive mental connection.

Their first release on Tzadik is an incendiary blockbuster and is destined to become an instant classic!

"...unruly...raging...visceral...raw...pure...expressive...a multi-faceted epic... Is Burning Ghosts the ‘Rage Against The Machine’ of jazz? Maybe that isn’t the conscious goal since there are those other precedents; it just seems to be the right time to bring up age-old issues that continue to fester, within the context of music that can match the passion on the streets. But listening to this music leaves the impression that Daniel Rosenboom & Co. wouldn’t shy away from the comparison with that other band from L.A., either."

"Rosenboom again presents advanced conception and improv in equally large doses...enough musical ideas to fill up the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum...It’s not a Miles Davis concert circa 1975, but it’s hard the escape the feeling of such an event. Book Of Storms does nothing but strengthen Daniel Rosenboom’s reputation as a conceptual improviser of the highest order. Whenever you see his name near the words “Book of,” prepare yourself for a hell of a ride."

“Rosenboom…sets the controls even further out with the ambitious, genre-mashing Book of Omens…inspired by a myth about the end of time and rebirth of the universe, resulting in songs that range from ominously abstract to explorations of the scorched middle ground between free-blowing experimental jazz and dark metal…the work of a musician dedicated to exploration and expression, regardless of anyone’s imagined boundaries.”
